Senior Software Engineer, Core Engine
Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators. At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there. A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone. The Game Engine team at Roblox works on the systems that power the experiences at the heart of the metaverse. Our code is the technical foundation in our client, editor, and our simulation servers. The Game Engine team is broadly split into departments — Audio-Video-Communication, Avatar, Core AI, Digital Matter, Productivity, and Systems. This position is for the Systems Runtime pod. The Runtime pod builds and maintains the foundational C++ components that power the entire Roblox engine and Studio stack. We own the runtime layer — the performance, efficiency, and usability of the core primitives that every other engineering team relies on. Think of Runtime as the “standard library” and execution engine for Roblox's C++ world. Our ownership centers on three pillars: - Concurrency System — our task scheduler and fiber runtime power how work is parallelized across CPU cores, letting teams scale features across platforms while keeping code understandable and debuggable. - Memory System — we own the engine's memory allocator stack, tracking pipelines, and observability tooling to make memory behavior predictable and prevent leaks and fragmentation. - Profiling and Observability — we build and evolve the MicroProfiler and telemetry pipelines to help engineers diagnose real-world regressions and keep the client fast at global scale. This role centers on our Concurrency system. You will own the scheduler and fiber runtime that the rest of the engine is built on, research and implement the performance work needed for 3K-player servers and genre expansion initiatives, and act as the point of contact other engine teams come to with concurrency asks. You will debug real production failures across PC, Mac, mobile, and console, and build deep intuition for how compilers, CPU architectures, and operating systems interact. A single well-designed primitive or optimization here makes hundreds of internal engineers more productive and millions of player sessions smoother. You Will: - Take ownership of part of the engine's Concurrency system — the task scheduler, fiber runtime, and async APIs that every other engine team builds on. - Research and implement performance improvements that unblock platform initiatives – unlocking higher fidelity and richer experiences. - Serve as a point of contact for concurrency across the org: design reviews, hard parallelism bugs, and asks from other engine teams. - Improve the ergonomics, testability, and debuggability of concurrent code across PC, Mac, mobile, and console. You Have: - Strong modern C++ (C++17 or newer) in a large, complex production codebase - Deep multithreading/concurrency experience — schedulers, thread pools, lock-free programming, atomics, memory models - Comfort profiling and reasoning about performance at the OS/CPU level Nice to Have: - Game engine or real-time systems experience - Fiber/coroutine runtimes, work-stealing or job-system schedulers - Cross-platform low-level development (Android, iOS, console) - Track record as the go-to expert other teams consult on a system For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page . Annual Salary Range $196,750 - $243,290 USD Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted). Roblox provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. You Are: - Kind and generous: You treat colleagues with respect, assume good intent, and go out of your way to help others succeed. You believe technical excellence without kindness is not enough. - Product-opinionated: You don't just execute plans, you proactively shape our roadmap, and push for the right product outcomes. - Hands-on: You write code, review code, and stay close to the product. You're not looking for a role where you stop building. - An AI advocate: You actively push the boundaries of AI-assisted development for yourself and your team. - Continuously growing: You take pride in your craft and hold yourself to a higher standard each quarter. Rendering Technical Artist II - League of Legends...
Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title, League of Legends, to critical and player acclaim. Players form the foundation of our community, and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience. We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints. That’s where you come in. As a Rendering Technical Artist (Contract) on the Singapore League of Legends PC Team, you’ll help bring the world of Runeterra and beyond to life through materials, lighting, and real-time rendering. League’s visual targets are built on a modern real-time, PBR-based rendering pipeline with stylized, hand-painted treatments, and you’ll author, extend, and maintain the shaders and materials that realize them across champions, skins, and related content. Working closely with artists, designers, engineers, and external partners, you’ll act as a bridge between art and engineering—translating visual and art-direction goals into robust, performant solutions that behave consistently across around-game and in-game environments. As an experienced technical artist, you’ll also diagnose rendering issues early, reduce rework, and help raise the craft bar for how shaders and materials are authored across internal and external teams. Reporting to the Technical Art Manager, you will ensure that assets meet technical performance standards and artistic direction requirements. In collaboration with Art, Design, Engineering, and external partners, you will contribute to production support and workflow improvements. Please note that Riot Games does not offer relocation packages for this position. You need to be able to work legally in Singapore, without Riot Games’ sponsorship, to be considered. Responsibilities: - Author, extend, and maintain real-time shaders and materials for League of Legends within a PBR-based rendering workflow, including reusable shader functions and shared material systems that scale across champions and skins. - Apply strong PBR fundamentals across albedo, normal, roughness, metallic, ambient occlusion, emissive, lighting, and reflection-probe inputs, ensuring shader features account for the full material response rather than the diffuse channel in isolation. - Collaborate directly with Art and Design to understand desired visual behaviors and art direction, and translate them into clear, achievable, and performant rendering solutions. - Provide hands-on technical support to internal and external vendor artists, helping them author, integrate, and troubleshoot materials and shaders for Epic and Legendary skins. - Validate assets across neutral lighting, around-game, and in-game environments and applicable quality levels, diagnosing issues involving lighting, shadows, material response, shader parameters, and texture inputs. - Collaborate with engineering to manage in-game memory budgets, profile shader and rendering cost, and optimize game performance using tools such as RenderDoc or equivalent GPU-capture tools. - Integrate visual assets from external vendors into the game engine using Perforce, working closely with the Art Director and Technical Art Manager to maintain quality and consistency. - Create and maintain clear technical documentation—shader and material workflows, authoring standards, and best practices—and develop custom tools and scripts so artists can work more independently. Required Qualifications: - 4+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in game development or a related real-time graphics field. - Demonstrated hands-on experience writing, debugging, and shipping shaders for a modern real-time, PBR-based game engine, with a strong understanding of how albedo, normal, roughness, metallic, ambient occlusion, lighting, and reflections combine to define surface response. - Ability to read, write, and debug common real-time shader languages such as HLSL and GLSL, along with node-based shader graphs or comparable proprietary shader and material systems. - Strong skills in modeling, shaders, texturing, and lighting for games, with an understanding of stylized, hand-painted content pipelines and how visual style, color, and lighting direction influence material and shader approaches. - Proficiency in commercial or proprietary game engines (e.g. Unity/Unreal), with familiarity in performance profiling, GPU cost analysis, memory budgets, and optimization across a range of hardware. - Strong technical writing skills, with experience creating and maintaining clear technical documentation such as shader and material guides, authoring standards, and workflow references. - Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Perforce. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to act as an ambassador between art and engineering and collaborate effectively with external partners and internal teams. Desired Qualifications: - Experience with stylized PBR rendering, toon/PBR hybrid workflows, or other non-photoreal real-time rendering approaches. - Experience creating shaders for character materials such as skin, hair, cloth, or metal. - Experience with material-driven systems, runtime material parameters, VFX integration, or gameplay-driven visual hooks. - Experience developing tools or scripts in Python or another scripting language to improve art and rendering workflows. - Experience with content creation tools such as Maya, Photoshop, Substance, or Marmoset Toolbag, and a solid understanding of 3D math, linear algebra, and color space. - Experience supporting external vendors through documentation, training, reviews, and production troubleshooting. - Familiarity with the League of Legends IP and its stylized skins universes. When submitting your application, please include a portfolio showcasing your past work. Please include shader or material breakdowns where possible, describing your role, the engine or rendering framework used, the PBR inputs and lighting considerations, and any performance or memory constraints you addressed. As part of the application process, you may be asked to complete an art test. For this role, you’ll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will certainly be looking at your past studies and experience, but for this role, we also look for dedicated people with a personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about the experiences of players, this could be the role for you!

Player Marketing Director

Whether it’s building award-winning games or crafting engine technology that enables others to make visually stunning interactive experiences, we’re always innovating. Being Epic means being a part of a team that continually strives to do right by our community and users. We’re constantly innovating to raise the bar of engine and game development. MARKETING What We Do We deliver the most innovative gaming experiences possible to players around the world. Whether through community outreach, world-class events, or partnership integrations, the Epic Games Publishing and Marketing teams seek to surprise players with new experiences every time they drop in to play. What You'll Do Epic Games is looking for a Player Marketing Director to lead player-facing marketing strategy across the Fortnite ecosystem — including Fortnite itself, third-party content and experiences on the platform. This role owns the connection between our games and our players, turning insight into campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and retention at scale, while helping stand up marketing plans for new experiences moving toward launch. You'll bring rigor to how the team plans, measures, and prioritizes: building real player-funnel visibility, a stronger measurement and experimentation practice, and clear, executive-ready storytelling around impact. You'll manage a small team of marketing managers and report directly to the Senior Director of Marketing. In this role, you will - Own player marketing strategy and execution across a portfolio of 2nd & 3rd party content in the Fortnite ecosystem, including UEFN games, developer-built experiences and more - Lead marketing planning for new experiences and IP programs as they move toward launch, partnering closely with product and studio teams from early development onward - Build and scale a data-driven marketing practice: define KPIs, build real funnel and player visibility, run experiments, and report results and ROI clearly to senior leadership - Own genre-focused campaigns, in-game live events, and IP partnership marketing across the portfolio - Manage, coach, and grow a team of marketing managers, helping the team focus on the highest-impact work rather than spreading thin across every request - Partner cross-functionally with brand, creative, community, PR, partnerships, data science, product, paid media, and publishing teams, and manage relationships with external partners and licensors - Represent player marketing in executive conversations — clear, confident, well-prepared storytelling on strategy and impact, not just status updates What we're looking for - 8+ years of marketing experience, including several years in player, lifecycle, or growth marketing for games or other live, player-facing products - Experience building growth strategy and campaigns across a portfolio of titles rather than a single game — comfortable thinking at the level of a connected, multi-title ecosystem - Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with hands-on experience in marketing analytics, experimentation/A-B testing, attribution, and funnel measurement - Track record of prioritizing ruthlessly across a high volume of concurrent workstreams, rather than trying to do everything - Excellent executive presence and communication — able to tell a clear, credible story about strategy and impact to senior leadership - Experience working with external partners, licensors, or IP holders - Comfort operating with ambiguity and adapting plans as new titles and experiences take shape - Genuine passion for games and an understanding of player and creator communities - Experience adapting marketing strategies and campaigns across different regional markets and audiences - Experience managing and developing direct reports EPIC JOB + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFE Our intent is to cover all things that are medically necessary and improve the quality of life.
